My son. So where do I begin?
You were my first joy. My first blessing. The first to call me Mama. From the moment I held you in my arms, I knew God had given me someone special. And you were special in every way.
You grew up far too quickly. Life demanded so much of you, especially after your father passed. You quickly had to be to become the man of the house. You protected me. You supported your siblings. You were truly selfless.
You were loving beyond words. Obedient, even when it wasn’t easy. You checked up on me, made sure I always ate. You were always able to notice when I was tired or sad. You made me feel proud. You made being your mother the greatest honour of my life.
You were my son, but so often you became my comfort, my friend, my rock. I watched you become a man anyone would be proud to know – devoted to your family, hardworking and kind-hearted.
And now you are gone, too soon, too suddenly. And my heart is shattered in ways I cannot describe. But even in the deep pain, I thank God for the gift of you. For the years we shared. I will hold those memories close forever.
Your life was a blessing. Thank you for everything Wisdom.
Rest well, my son. You have done more than your part. Now may you find the peace and rest you truly deserve.
Baba na wo.
Mawu na nor kple wo.
Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the spirit, “they will rest from their labour, for their deeds will follow them.” (Revelation 14:13)
Daddy.. I still can’t believe you’re gone. Life isn’t the same without you. Now I cannot wake up to say good morning to you. I cannot tell you how my day has been and hear the several stories you used to tell me. You were more than just my father. You were my hero, my safe place, and my best friend.
You were full of life. Always laughing, always joking, always trying to make everyone feel better, even when you were tired. Home was never quiet with you around. You had a way of turning ordinary moments into special memories.
I will never forget how much you loved me. You worked hard, not just for yourself, but for us – your family. Every single thing you did, you did with us in mind. You never missed a chance to be there for me, to protect me, to guide me, to cheer me on. You made sure I knew I was loved – every single day.
I don’t know how to say goodbye to you. Daddy you left me too suddenly. It hurts more than I can say, but I promise I’ll carry your love with me for the rest of my life.
I’ll hold onto your stories, your laughter, your strength and your kindness. I’ll try to live in a way that would make you proud.
Thank you for being my father – the best I could have ever asked for. Thank you for
loving me so deeply and so well.
I love you Daddy. I always will.
Rest in perfect peace.
Your little girl, Shika.
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:14)
Today, we gather not to say goodbye, but to celebrate the beautiful life of our dear brother, Wisdom James Kofi Yeko – a man whose heart was as vast as his smile, and whose presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone around him.
From the very beginning, he was more than a brother to us. He was a friend, a confidant, and a gentle guide. His love was constant and unwavering. He was always there to catch us when we fell.
Kofi was very affable and approachable. He had a gift of making people feel seen and valued. Whether you were family, friend, or stranger, he welcomed you with open arms and an open heart. His humility and warmth drew people in, and his legacy of love and goodness will live on in the lives he touched.
He had a heart that listened. Whether we came to him with joy or sorrow, he met us with the same tenderness, the same calm assurance that no matter what, everything would be alright. He never rushed a conversation, never judged – just listened with kindness and compassion.
We were shaken on that fateful 19th May when Rejoice and Winifred were called that you had fallen unconscious and had been rushed to the hospital. Our hope and prayer was for you to brought home healthy and strong. But, alas, it was your demise
they met. It was a very black Monday for us.
Kofi Yeko, who will now work our maths for us? Who will cheer us on in our daily endeavours? Who will stand beside us? Who will fight for us again? You were always ready to give a helping hand. Kofi, who will take our children to the naval base on holidays? Who will do that for your nephews and nieces again? We are totally broken, but we take solace in our Lord that in all things we should give thanks to Him.
We, your siblings, are proud to have shared our lives with a remarkable man like you. Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the memories, the laughter, and the countless moments of love we shared.
Brother, you were our blessing – our light in the dark times, our anchor, and our joy.
Though you no longer walk besides us, you will forever live within us.
Fare thee well Bro Wisdom. Kofi Yeko dzijor l3 nuti fafa m3. 3fo Ashiwome mawu na nor kpl3 wo.
Mia aga kpe.
Amen.
Today, we stand together — cousins bound not just by blood, but by the immeasurable love, laughter, and memories gifted to us by our beloved uncle.
Words feel so small in moments like these. How do we capture a man who gave so much of himself — selfless, fun-loving, and fully dedicated to all of us? In him was a safe home where each of us found comfort, support, and joy. He celebrated our
victories, encouraged us in our struggles, and made even ordinary days feel special with his amazing personality.
Our uncle had a gift for bringing people together. He had a way of lighting up any room, making everyone feel very welcome and cherished. Whether it was family gatherings, phone conversations, or trips to the stadium to watch his glorious Accra Hearts of Oak, he filled our lives with moments that will forever remain in our hearts.
But beyond the joy, what stood out even more was his selflessness. He never thought twice about sacrificing his own comfort for the well-being of others. He taught us the true meaning of generosity, compassion, and dedication. He showed us that the measure of a person is not in what they have, but in what they give. And he gave us everything: his time, his love, his wisdom – just like his name.
Though his passing was sudden and deeply painful, we choose to honour his life by carrying forward the values he instilled in us — to live with joy, to love without measure, and to be there for one another, as he always was for us.
Uncle, thank you for being our constant source of laughter, our guide, our biggest cheerleader, and our friend. Though you are no longer with us in person, your spirit lives on in every story we tell, every lesson we remember, and every smile you brought to our faces.
We love you. We miss you. And we will never forget you.
Rest in perfect peace Uncle Wisdom.

Tribute by Kuagbela Family Union
Commit thy way unto the Lord: For he has reasons for things to happen.
We may never understand His wisdom but we simply must trust His will. Ps 37:5.
We come together today to honor the life of a man who was a guiding light and a pillar of strength for the Kuagbela family. James Wisdom Kofi Yeko, known to all of us as Dr. Scroogies, was the beloved son of the late James Kofi Yeko Kuagbela (Senior) and Madam Jesse Dovi Dagadu.
Wisdom's impact on our family is immeasurable. After the original family union dissolved, he was instrumental in creating a new one. As the elected family secretary from 2003 until his passing on May 19, 2025, he worked tirelessly to grow the union and bring us all closer. His dedication and commitment were a testament to his character, and it was through his efforts that we often came together for family activities and gatherings.
James was defined by his unwavering kindness, his ability to inspire, and his steadfast reliability. He was a person you could always count on to get things done, a true leader who motivated the younger generation in our family. Tolerant, sincere, and always willing to go the extra mile, he leaves a huge void that we are struggling to fill.
Beyond his family life, Wisdom was a proud Vandal, whose presence was felt at every Vandal activity and program. He was also a passionate and active participant in national politics, a strong social democrat aligned with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dr. Scroogies, while we are heartbroken by your departure, we find solace in the knowledge that you lived a life of purpose and love. Though death is a necessary end, your legacy will live on in our hearts and in the strength of the family union you helped build. We love you, but God loves you more.
🕊Rest Well Dr Scroogies 🕊

Tribute from Kuabgela Family Youth
Today, we gather not just to mourn the loss of a remarkable youth and a brother, but to celebrate a life well lived. Though his time with us was far too brief, the impact he made on our lives will resonate forever.
Wisdom was a staunch member of the Kuagbela family youth and has been with us till date. He exhibited a spirit that was infectious. His kindness and compassion were evident in every interaction; he had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel valued and heard. Whether it was helping a family member through a tough time or volunteering in any family business, he embodied the essence of selflessness.
As a member of our family youth, Wisdom was a source of inspiration for many of us and strongly contributed to every project proposed on the youth platform. He was always willing to lend an ear or offer advice as to the way forward of youth development. His passions were as diverse as his personality. Wisdom was the glue that held us together. He had a unique ability to diffuse tension and bring joy even in the most challenging times. He taught us that family is not just about blood, but about the bonds we forge and the love we share.
Scroogies, your skillful ways of celebrating our birthdays on our platform will be missed. Words and beautiful pictures of birthday celebrations are captured in a very solid creative manner and posted by you. Who will do this for us again?
As we navigate this profound loss, let us remember Wisdom not in sorrow, but in celebration of the beautiful moments we shared. Let us honor his legacy by continuing to spread kindness, compassion, and understanding in our own lives. He would want us to embrace life fully, to support one another, and to keep our dreams alive.
In our hearts, you will always remain, a cherished brother, a loyal friend, and an inspiring soul.
You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
MAY YOUR GENTLE SOUL REST IN PEACE!
TRIBUTE TO JAMES KOFI YEKO (V-Mate!!!)
From Vandals ’94, Commonwealth Hall, University of Ghana
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we, the Vandals ’94 group of Commonwealth Hall, bid farewell to our beloved brother and friend, James Kofi Yeko - known to all of us simply and fondly as Scroogies.
Scroogies entered the University of Ghana in 1991 and graduated in 1994, walking that unforgettable journey side-by-side with all of us; the Vandals of '94. It was over this period that Vandal City came to know and experience his loyalty and his unwavering commitment to the spirit and soul of Commonwealth Hall.
With verve, commitment, and passion, Scroogies contributed to all activities as long as it helped the cause of Commonwealth Hall. This is how most of us knew and appreciated him. Whether it was time at the Observatory, gatherings at the JCR, processions or demonstrations, Scroogies was there to add to the tempo!
Right from the beginning, he joined the Vandal Militia, a unit that was charged with defending the honour and integrity of the hall and remained a key member until we completed. We were later to learn that in his work in education at the Christian Methodist Senior High School, he led and commissioned a student cadet corps grounded in the very principles of the Vandal Militia. That was the kind of man he was—devoted to his values, proud of his roots, and always building, always leading.
To the outside world, Vandals are perceived to be a rowdy group of young people in the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana; On the contrary, VANDAL is an acronym representing the core values of its residents: Vivacious, Affable, Neighbourly, Devoted, Altruistic, and Loyal. Scroogies lived these values.
Years after graduation, we came together to form the Vandals '94 group—under the Commonwealth Hall Old Students Association - to commiserate with members, relive our days in school and to manage the welfare of all members. And just like in school, Scroogies threw himself into the group with full force. His voice, his laughter, his insights, his presence—he brought it all, every time we met.
Our last gathering was on March 31st, 2025. As always, we met, we laughed, we sang the songs that defined our youth, we discussed our shared hopes and memories. And Scroogies was there, sharing in the warmth of brotherhood. Little did we know that for Scroogies, that was good-bye in the making.
For those of us who were there, the news of his passing came like a blow to the chest - sudden, and deeply painful.
If you can hear us, our tribute to Scroogies is a short one. There once lived a fine gentleman called Scroogies. He entered Commonwealth Hall like a storm. and left a legacy that will never fade.
We will miss him. His loyalty. His unshakable Vandal Spirit.
Scroogies, may you find eternal rest in the bosom of our Lord.
Signed:
Vandals ’94 Truth Stands!
TRIBUTE BY OLD ODORKOR BARRACKS YOUTH ASSOCIATION (O’BAYA),
TO THE LATE
BRO. JAMES WISDOM KOFI YEKO
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” Revelations 21:4
Unassuming, calm and yet engaging is how we would describe Bro. James Wisdom Kofi Yeko.
The late Bro. James Wisdom Kofi Yeko was a founding member of the Old Odorkor Barracks Youth Association and the First Vice President of the Association, a position he held until his untimely demise. He has been an active member of the Association since its inception in 2013 and has played a pivotal role in ensuring that the group achieved its goals as prescribed by our constitution.
Dr. Scroogies as we affectionately called him was always active in participated in all the activities of the Association. Though he had his own generational group, he was kind, lively and gave advice to people who got close to him. We will miss his wise counsel and sense of humour during our monthly meetings. He is the type who does not want interruptions when he has the floor to speak and when someone interrupts most especially with Bro. Evans, he will go like bodzedi! bodzedi! La! my brother! to make sure he makes his point to the meeting.
Unfortunately, on 20th of May 2025 news reached the Association that our brother Kofi has passed on to His maker after a short illness.
We felt it was untimely and too sudden for him to be confronted with the cold hands of death. Our hearts are filled with sorrow; in fact, the news of his passing away was with great dismay, shock and pain to the Association.
Bro. James Wisdom Kofi Yeko was a committed member till his passing. Old Odorkor Barracks Youth Association has really lost a great pillar and an exceptional friend. The Association would have wished that he was with us today but as the saying goes “Man proposes, God disposes”
Bro. James Wisdom Kofi Yeko, Dr. Scroogies, we thank God for your life, and we also ask Him to grant you rest in His bosom till we meet again. We are consoled by the fact that you in a better place, where there is no night, no more weeping and no more pain.
“Grief may be the price we pay for love, but it is also a reminder of the beauty and depth of that love”
Author, Unknown.
The leadership and members of the entire O’BAYA, say; fare thee well, and we ask the Lord Almighty to keep you till we meet again.
Rest In Peace!

By Staff of Christian Methodist Senior High School
Tribute by Christian Methodist Senior High School.
On this solemn and sad day, we pay tribute to an iconic individual, Mr. James Wisdom Kofi Yeko, who joined the teaching fraternity of Christian Methodist Senior High School in 1998. The Late Mr. Kofi Yeko, who was born on April 20th, 1968, at Henyum, Dodowa in the Greater-Accra Region, hailed from Atsiame in the Volta Region of Ghana. Before his stewardship at Christian Methodist SHS, he had stints as a teacher at T I Ahmadiyya Secondary/Commercial School, in Salaga in the Savanna Region (1988-1989), Reliance Academy, Accra New Town, Accra (1989-1996), and Super Stars School, Accra New Town (1995-1997). Mr. Yeko set foot on the soil of Christian Methodist as a graduate of the University of Ghana with a BA (Hons) Degree in Geography and Resources Development with Philosophy (1991-1994). He later earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the University of Cape Coast (2003-2004).
Mr. James Kofi Yeko was instrumental in establishing the Cadet Corps in Christian Methodist S.H.S., and served as the Naval Cadet Commander since its inception in 1998. He pursued specialized training at the Naval Base in Sekondi and further military training in Accra, which epitomized his commitment to that program. Indeed, the Cadet was his first love! Mr. Yeko's outstanding contributions to education were recognized and celebrated by the Ga South Municipal authorities, as he emerged victorious in the Best Teacher Award for Second Cycle Schools in the 2011/2012 Academic Year, in the General Category. The Management of Christian Methodist S.H.S. also honoured him for his hard work and dedication to the school on several occasions.
Scroogies was more than just an educator; he was a guiding light who illuminated the path to knowledge and understanding for his students. His love for teaching was evident in every lesson he planned, every question he asked, and every challenge he presented. He had a unique ability to make complex concepts accessible, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation for the subject matter.
He was known for his firm yet fair approach to discipline. He believed in setting high standards and expectations, but he also understood that students are still learning and growing. His discipline was not about punishment, but about helping students develop self-control, responsibility, and respect for themselves and others.
Through his tireless efforts, Mr. Yeko shaped the minds of his students, instilled valuable life skills, discipline, and immeasurable leadership qualities.
"Your impeccable style and flair for fashion inspire us all. From your bold choices to your effortless elegance, you bring a touch of sophistication to our workplace. Your confidence and self-expression are truly admirable."
You were more than a colleague; you were a source of support, guidance, and inspiration to all at work. Your kindness, empathy, and generosity touched countless lives. You will be deeply missed, but your impact and legacy will continue to shine brightly in our memories and hearts.
Your unwavering dedication and selflessness will never be forgotten. your ultimate sacrifices in the line of duty are testaments to your bravery and commitment to the Chrimesco fraternity have not gone unnoticed.
At the beginning of every academic year, everyone awaits an alert message informing us of our allotted classes; you would do this individually for all. Your human touch in considering concerns in timetable plotting was just something else. Please, what matrix system were you using to plot the timetable for all exams? During sporting activities, Kofi’s presence was always felt, especially among members of his House, which he nicknamed “the Japanese House. Trust our Vandal Colleague to give us a good jama session at all sporting events. During funerals, weddings, marriages, and christening ceremonies, no matter the occasion, Kofi made sure his presence was always felt. Our birthdays will never be the same without you. Who will send the midnight alert to remind us it's a colleague’s birthday? You would flog our pages with pictures and goodwill messages; this was done with a touch of love. Your classic style of disciplining students was done to our admiration. Whom do we call upon now when a student misbehaves? Your thoughtful gestures and celebrations made us feel seen, appreciated, and valued.
The events of May 19th will remain etched in our memories. That day, you arrived at work unusually early—something not typical of your Mondays. You moved from room to room, visiting almost every part of the school, and even shared brunch with some colleagues. None of us could have imagined that later in the day, tragedy would strike. Were you silently bidding us farewell? Surely not in that way. Yet, in those final moments, your colleagues stood by you until your last breath. Our hearts are heavy, and we are deeply broken.
As we bid him farewell today, let us ensure that his legacy continues to inspire and motivate us. Today, let us honour a true legend for his commitment and service to education.
May the Creator of the heavens send His angels to welcome you to His bosom, as we part ways with you today.
Till we meet again in His presence:
Journey on, Soldier!
Journey on, Commander 1!!
Journey on, our Scrooges!!!
Ahooooooo!!!!!!!
Tribute by Raymond Sedro, Assistant Headmaster (Academic)
“Greater Love hath no man than this, that a man layeth down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
“They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies” (William Penn)
I thank God that, finally, I was able to gather my thoughts and present this tribute in honor of a man who was virtually my “Director of Operations”. The very thought that a man who worked hand-in-hand with you almost every day is no longer by your side is simply a very hefty blow to receive.
The pain was incredibly raw, and the shock was organically pure, and the whole staff is united in mourning not just a colleague but a man who devoted virtually his entire working life to Christian Methodist Senior High School.
Yes, this is not just a mere response to his tragic loss but a natural reaction to the caliber of personality he was; He loved and was dearly loved, a doyen of Discipline, a natural Organizer, a symbol of Hard work, a man always desirous to work. Give Yeko-man any task in the school and consider it done. Even on weekends, Yeko-man was just a phone call away from getting whatever information was needed.
He was the one who prepared our teaching Timetable, be it manual or computerized, as well as internal examination timetables. When it is time for WASSCE, Yeko-man would extract our school's Final Timetable from the general WAEC one and subsequently prepare the Invigilation Timetable. During the WASSCE, Yeko-man would go to the Accra Academy scripts Depot daily, pick up the Questions and come to the centre. Even before then, he made sure all the examination rooms were well arranged with appropriate furniture and Index numbers written on each, even beyond a thousand candidates. He stayed with the Visual Arts students during the 3 weeks of their Practical sessions, making sure their works were arranged and stamped. Envelopes and Dispatch forms are neatly filled and properly signed. When we had Core papers on Mondays, Yeko-man would come around on Sunday afternoon, with his lieutenants, to come and prepare the centre, working late into the evening.
Yeko-man’s work in this school was simply a testament to selflessness and dedication to duty, and he did so sometimes in the face of glaring adversity and disappointments. Yeko-man always bitterly recounted the torture of being dragged to court by a parent whose daughter he dared to punish and was hit with the reality of having to foot the entire bloated medical bills of the student in question.
Yeko-man’s passing has not only left us scratching our heads for answers in the area of Examinations but also with the prospect of the loss of valuable institutional data and memory. Yeko-man would painstakingly go round, class-to-class, to get information and data on students’ enrolment, Program by program, Subject by subject, Gender, Elective areas, Core subjects, etc.
Colleagues, I have now learnt and let us all come to agree and accept the fact that Yeko-man is dead, and gone, and no more with us. A warrior he was, not only with the Cadet but also in the classroom. No wonder, when he fell on that fateful day, he struggled to come to terms with the fact that he, of all warriors, could fall in that manner. Oh yes, most of us saw it; that his final battle with life was one of courage, gallantry, and the enduring power of human determination to still soldier on.
Let his legacy continue to inspire all of us to excellence, to fight for truth, knowledge, and justice. His time with us has been cut short, but let the impact he made on this school be felt for generations to come because he was a true CHAMPION OF THE SCHOOL.
Today, I feel so vulnerable than I thought, but as a believer in the power of the protection of our Lord Jesus Christ, I will say, I fear no evil (Psalm 91) and I also believe strongly that the enduring spirit of bravery and gallantry of MR JAMES WISDOM KOFI YEKO would keep me much stronger than I ever imagine.
Human as he was, just as we all are, I pray Oh Lord, that all his transgressions and iniquities be poured right in the belly of the earth where his flesh will be interred, but all the good things he did while on earth, the countless “Thank you” and “God bless you” he did receive should go ahead of him into Paradise and the rewards pour down copiously on the family he has left behind, AMEN!
Like William Shakespeare said, “There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune; Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat; And we must take the current when it serves, Or lose our ventures.”
Good night, Yeko-man; Sleep on, Soldier; Fight on, Warrior; Think on, Disciplinarian; Work on, Citadel of Hard work.
I beseech the flight of heavenly Angels to ride thee to thy eternal rest.

Tribute by Christian Methodist School Naval Cadet Corps
AHOOOO!!!
“There is a season, a time appointed for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven— A time to be born and a time to die; A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted”.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
As humans and workers, what, at all, do we gain from our toil on this earth? We have seen the burden God has laid on the human race; He makes everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet we cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end, and such is what we see here today as we bid farewell to our dear Father, Mentor, and most of all the Master-In-Charge of the Christian Methodist Naval Cadets Corps.
Mr. James Wisdom Kofi Yeko A.K.A Dr Scroogies, was a man of a Resilient spirit. We knew that there was nothing better for him than to be happy and to do good while he lived.
The Christian Methodist NAVAL CADET Corps was formed in January 1998 as a scout under the then headmaster, Mr Okyere, and approved by the Ghana Education Service in February 1998. It was later adopted and approved by the Ghana Navy in August 1999 as a Naval Cadet, and Mr Yeko became the Master-In-Charge, MIC. In the Year 2000, Mr. Yeko did everything possible for it to be fully inaugurated as a cadet. His commitment and dedication to the cadet corps saw him graduate a generation of men and women between 1999 - 2024, and he was still nurturing the 2025 badge before his untimely demise.
Mr Yeko defied all odds in making the cadet corps what it is today, despite the numerous challenges he faced both internally and externally. Mr Yeko will organize free classes for all cadets and teach them to make up for lost time. Despite all the humiliations, name tagging, and setbacks, he helped produce school prefects and SRC executives out of the cadets.
You’ve played a significant role in our achievements and the school's success in various competitions, especially during Independence Day celebrations. During our training sessions for 6th March, Mr Yeko always spent the night with us in the school, which shows how selfless he was. The memories of competing and excelling against other schools seem to be particularly memorable. The fact that we were able to outperform larger and well-established schools like Accra Academy and others is something you were proud of. Those experiences likely shaped our time in school and beyond.
If today, Christian Methodist S.H.S. can boast of past students in the Ghana Armed Forces and other security agencies, it was the handiwork of the man whose mortal body lies before us today. These gallant men and women he trained and nurtured have become prominent people in society and to their various families. As old cadets, we know for sure that the cadet corps will not be the same again without Mr. Yeko. A real Gem has fallen, a man of principle is gone.
"As you journey into eternity to meet your maker, Mr. James Wisdom Kofi Yeko, we, the old cadets, promise to sustain the legacy you built. The cadet corps from your era, which brought glory to the school, will not falter. Your daughter, who is now our legacy, will not fall short of our assistance, either. The gallant men and women of the Christian Methodist Naval Cadet Corps, both past and present, do hereby solemnly swear to uphold this legacy you’ve left us.
Safe journey, Mr. Yeko,
Journey on, Dr. SCROOGIES,
Till we meet again, M.I.C.
Farewell.
Salute!!!
FARETHEE WELL KOFI FROM AUDREY YOUR ‘VV’ MATE
As the great French writer, Alexander Dumas, said, “the ones we love who die, will not rest in the ground, but in our hearts, so that they will be in our company for us to remember them always”, so it will be with you, my brother.
I have and still struggle to put these words together; your demise has left a deep and raw wound in my heart and of all your beloved ones. A feeling of devastation, occasionally some untimely unexpected event, has sent shocks reverberating through the entire Chrimesco fraternity.
Kofi and I first met in 1996 at Volta Hall L17 at the University of Ghana, Legon, when he accompanied his friend Tony to visit one of my roommates, and we just exchanged normal greetings. Upon completion and being offered an appointment at Christian Methodist Senior High School, our paths converged again, and he was so excited as he had a colleague from “The Lake” joining him. From then he would most of the time call me “VV”. Our friendship blossomed from then on, taking the role of my big brother, confidant, advisor, name it, a friendship that spans twenty-nine years.
‘V.V.,’ you were a fortress of strength throughout your life, resolute and confident. You were an exceptional colleague, brother, and friend, whose dedication and passion for work always inspired me to match your record. Your tireless efforts, expertise, and commitment to excellence made you a valuable asset at work. You were a paragon of excellence and diplomacy. Scroogies, ‘VV’, why did you choose to depart from the earth and us? I’m still confused, feeling morose that you are no more. You always added a touch to our birthdays and made sure your sister lived the day to its fullest. Who will get me my ‘big alvaro’? Pop the champagne, and make sure he takes the spotlight in the pictures to be taken.
Hmm, 19th May 2025, will always strike a tingling, vibrating sting I can’t fathom. That Monday, around 10:15 am, we shared brunch, had a lengthy talk, said goodbye to go to our various classes, and promised to come back to continue what we were doing. I would have engaged you longer if I knew that after about three hours, I would be hit with your sudden demise.
“Dr Scroogies”, my gallant ‘VV’ mate, and brother, I will cherish the sight of you, in memories, our moments will stay. A bittersweet reminder of what could never sway. I will strive to carry on your legacy of compassion, excellence, kindness, and empathy. I shall continue to emulate the ethics and tenets by which you lived, an exemplary life.
Farewell, my brother, friend, ‘VV’ mate, our friendship, imprinted in our hearts, will never be diminished by time and distance. You are resting peacefully with our Maker. May your cherished memories bring us comfort.
Rest well,
Gallant soldier.
Tribute by Mrs. Belinda-Rose Senam Dadzie Sam
When someone you met as a result of working together in the same establishment metamorphoses over the decades into a cherished brother, then his sudden death in the line of duty not only leaves you shaken and in disbelief but even writing a befitting tribute in his memory becomes a herculean task.
Kofi, when our friend who broke the news of your demise to me that afternoon of 19th May, 2025 started by asking where I was, if I was alone, if I was seated, if I had eaten… I knew the news was no good. Little did I, however, imagine that you, Kofi, whom I had spoken to a couple of weeks ago, you who sounded hale and hearty, you who promised to call back after some WAEC enquiries were made, were the one of whom the bad news was about to be told.
The SHOCK was IMMENSE…!
In my confusion, I asked how that was possible, forgetting that God, who opens without anyone’s consent, closes as and when He pleases. It pleased God to close your chapter to the world when He did, and we can only be thankful that He gifted us with such a treasure as you, Kofi.
Wisdom James Kofi Yeko was more than just a co-worker at Christian Methodist High School. In the years I have known him not only as a colleague but also as a brother, the following words and phrases readily come to mind:
KIND, AFFABLE, GENEROUS, DEDICATED, STRICT, DISCIPLINED, PRINCIPLED, COMMITTED, IMPACTFUL, UNMATCHED, PASSIONATE, UNFLINCHING, UNWAVERING, DETERMINED, RESOLUTE, VERY HELPFUL, HARDWORKING, A ROLE MODEL, A TRAILBLAZER, A PATH FINDER…
These qualities and more endeared Kofi to many of us, although his belief in not sparing the rod to spoil the child sometimes went overboard. But was it not because he wholly invested in making our students the best, even among the best?
Kofi, you were an inspiration to thousands, and your tireless efforts will forever be remembered. I thank God, he strategically placed you along my path because you were and still are one of the blessings in this journey of life. I still cannot believe you’re gone. I’ll miss the “Hello dear,” “Aunty Bel,” and the like, any time we met or spoke on the phone.
My heart goes out to Kofi’s mother, daughter, siblings, and the entire family. My deepest condolences on the loss of Kofi. Kofi has left hearts broken as well as worlds shattered, and his passing leaves a gaping hole in the family, but I pray that you all find strength and comfort in the memories you shared. May God make a way where there seems to be no way.
Indeed, the day God gave Kofi to us all is ended, and while we mourn him, may “The vanished days we yearn that never can return” teach us to number our days. May Kofi’s memory be a blessing to us all, and may it remind us to cherish every moment.
Kofi, now your day of toil is done and your race of life is run, I pray for the peaceful repose of your soul.
May the angels receive your soul and present it to God the highest!
May God give you kind admittance into His kingdom!
May God welcome you into the light of His face and keep you in His care!
May you, Dear Wisdom James Kofi Yeko, rest in the sleep of peace!
Amen!
Tribute By Christian Methodist School, Social Science Department
As we bid farewell to Mr. Yeko, let us carry forward the love and laughter he brought into our lives.
Though Kofi may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will forever echo in our hearts, reminding us to cherish each moment and hold tight to the bonds of friendship. His legacy will continue to inspire us.
The late James Kofi Yeko was one of the long-serving staff members in the Social Science Department and the school as well.
He was hardworking and ready to offer support and share ideas with other colleagues and students as well. His passion for teaching inspired us all. We will miss him.
The late Kofi Yeko was fair, firm, and a great disciplinarian. He was very instrumental in organizing internal and external examinations, such as the B.E.C.E. and the WASSCE, as well as the teaching timetable in the school.
In addition to his devotion to his work, he was an affable, jovial, friendly, and outgoing individual who found time for his colleagues.
“That man is a success – who leaves the world better than he found it, who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to improve it,
“Who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had”
REST WELL, Kofi, you will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in Perfect Peace.
Tribute By Kwesi Arthur
Today, we remember a man whose presence was impossible to ignore and whose absence is deeply felt, Wisdom Kofi Yeko. To many, he was simply Mr. Yeko, but to those who truly knew him, he was so much more. A brother, a loyal friend, a bright spirit, and the life of every gathering.
Dr. Scroogies had a rare gift, the ability to light up any room he walked into. His energy was magnetic, his laughter unforgettable, and his love for people unmatched. He didn’t just make friends, he created bonds. He welcomed everyone with open arms and a wide smile, no matter who you were or where you came from. He had time for everyone and gave his heart without conditions.
He lived life with passion, with joy, and with an authenticity that drew people to him. He celebrated others, uplifted those around him, and stood by the people he cared about. He made ordinary moments special and turned simple gatherings into memories we now hold dearly.
To lose Mr Yeko is to lose a piece of joy, a part of our collective light. Yet, even in this pain, we find comfort knowing that his impact lives on in our hearts, our stories, our laughter, and the love we continue to share because of him.
Rest well, Commander. Your name and your beautiful soul will live on forever. You were loved deeply, and you will be missed endlessly.
Tribute by Kelly Dadson
Today, we gather to celebrate the life of an extraordinary friend and colleague. Our bond, forged in 2000, was built on shared experiences, laughter, and a deep commitment to making a difference. Your kindness touched countless lives, from paying school fees for needy students to offering free tuition and constant interactions with parents for the betterment of their wards.
Your passion for education and mentorship brought the inspiration for the two of us in the creation of the Christian Methodist Old Students Association cloth. The same passion that propelled Winneba Secondary School's Naval Cadet Corps to greatness, with Christian Meth Secondary School winning numerous accolades under your guidance.
Your selflessness and generosity earned you eternal gratitude. I'll cherish the memories of our camaraderie, symbolized by the nickname 'Tolos,' which has become a cherished part of our shared history. Though death, indeed, can be unfathomably cruel, though we can't grasp God's divine plan, we're reminded to thank and praise Him through all seasons.
Your legacy lives on, Scroogies.
May the Lord's presence comfort loved ones and guide you into eternal peace.
Fare thee well, dear friend, until we meet again.
In Loving Memory of Efo Yeko by Mary Litty Kumassah
That’s how I always called you — Efo Yeko, “Amee Ofo”
I remember when I was transferred to Christian Methodist and found myself wondering who I could connect with in this new environment. That’s when I met Mr. Tackie, the then headmaster, and you, the dedicated Senior Housemaster, working closely with Millicent Dzandu Sunu.
You worked tirelessly and served with such commitment.
When you found out I was Ewe and from Tsiame, our friendship began to unfold beautifully. From that moment on, anytime you came to school, you never failed to check on me. Your familiar words still echo in my ears: “Ei, is this my beautiful sister, mother?” You affectionately called my assistant, Small Mary, and you never missed a chance to introduce me proudly to those around you — your loved ones, colleagues, and anyone you held dear.
But Efo Yeko, “amee ofo” … why didn’t you walk into my office that day?
You always did. Every time you came around, you made sure to pass by. But on the day you left us, you didn’t. You didn’t come to tell me the last thing. I still don’t understand.
Efo Yeko — brother to so many, a friend to all.
You always reminded me that we were family, and through your mother, I have come to understand what you meant fully. You were right all along.
You worked so hard, with a generous heart and a kind spirit. May God grant you the peaceful rest you deserve.
Rest well, Efo Yeko, “ameefo”. You will be deeply missed.

Tribute by Sir DRAZO
Silently, the shades of evening;
Gathered round my lonely door.
Silently, they bring before me;
A face I shall see no more.
Today, with a heavy heart, I pay tribute to a remarkable individual who was not only a colleague but also a dear friend to me.
Kofi, as I always called him, was a shining example of dedication, passion, and commitment to education, inspiring countless students and colleagues alike.
He was more than just a colleague to me; he was a friend, a mentor, and a confidant. We shared laughter, tears, and countless memories, both in and out of the classroom. His kindness, empathy, and generosity of spirit made him a beloved figure in our school community.
Scroogies was passionate about his subject area and had a gift for making complex concepts accessible to his students. He was always willing to go the extra mile, providing individualized support and guidance to those who needed it. His love for teaching was contagious, inspiring others to strive for excellence.
Kofi had a profound impact on the lives of his students, colleagues, and friends. He was a positive influence, always looking for ways to uplift and encourage those around him. His presence in the school was a reminder that teaching is not just a profession, but a calling that requires dedication, patience, and compassion.
I will cherish the memories of our time together, from our lively discussions about education and life to our quiet moments of reflection and support.
I remember your guidance and support when I was appointed the Senior Housemaster.
Kofi told me, "Drazo, the work is difficult, but you have me and my shoulders to lean on."
That was also the day he changed my name to Kofi Drazo, a name he always called me before his painful crossover to eternity.
He indeed gave me his shoulders to lean on when he wholeheartedly and fully supported me with the disciplinary actions in the school. Something he saw as a collective responsibility for all, not only for one person. A responsibility he performed beautifully, even on the day of his demise.
I salute you, Kofi.
Kofi may be gone, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. His dedication, passion, and commitment to education will continue to inspire us, reminding us of the importance of kindness, empathy, and compassion in our work.
To a dear friend and colleague, Kofi Scroogies, I extend my gratitude for being a shining example of what it means to live a life of purpose and passion. Your legacy will live on, and your memory will continue to inspire us to be better educators, colleagues, and friends.
Rest in peace, dear friend.

"Today, we gather to celebrate the life of our dear friend, Wisdom Kofi Yeko, affectionately known as Scroogies. Though his passing leaves a void in our lives, we take comfort in the cherished memories we shared with him. As a fellow student at St. Anthony's Preparatory School, Scroogies was more than just a classmate – he was a true friend, a trusted confidant, and a pillar of support. His presence was always felt, and his availability was unwavering. Whether it was a school event, a project, or a simple hangout, Scroogies was always there, radiating his infectious spirit and boundless energy.
Scroogies was more than just a friend; he was a comrade, a loving person, and a beacon of selflessness. His unwavering support and genuine kindness touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing and interacting with him. We remember him as one of the cool kids who rode on the back of his father's police motorcycle to school, always full of life and adventure. This was just one of the many stories that showcased his fearless and adventurous spirit.
His commitment to our friendship and the bonds we formed will never be forgotten. Scroogies, you may be gone, but your memory will live on in our hearts. May your legacy inspire us to live life to the fullest, cherish the moments we have with loved ones, and embody the kindness and compassion that defined you. Your impact on our lives was profound, and we will deeply miss your presence.
Rest in peace, dear Scroogies.
You will be deeply missed, but your impact on our lives will never fade. Rest in peace till we meet again."

It is with profound shock and deep sorrow that we, the executives and members of the New Russia Last Stop 1 (Ponpon 1), gather to pay tribute to our late secretary, James Kofi Yeko. You have left behind a legacy that will echo through generations—both present and future. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that you are now free from pain and suffering.

By Ghanata Old Students Association (GOSA) 1985
“There are friends who pretend to be friends
But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother”
(Proverbs 18:24)
If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, we would right away climb to heaven and bring you home again. But that is not possible.
It is therefore with a heavy heart that we stand before you, dear mourners to pay this tribute in memory of our dear colleague and brother, because when someone you love becomes a memory, the memory become a treasure!!
Wisdom attended St Anthony’s preparatory School, Latebiokoshie before joining us at Ghanata Secondary School (now Ghanata Senior High School) Dodowa. We first met at Ghanata Secondary School, on the 10th of October, 1980. We were put into three different classes. He was in Form 1B and belonged to The Fraternity House (House 3).
Scroogies as he was later known was very smart and academically inclined. He was studious and worked hard to overcome all challenges. So when we got to Form 3, he picked the sciences as his course of study till we got to Form 5. Scroogies was very caring, lovingly, friendly, accommodating, generous and serviceable.
He was a friend to all and you could confide in him and we shared playful moments together. We shared many laughs and tears together. There were many moments when he had been asked to mediate between fellow students about issues in the classrooms or in the dorms. He went on to become the Entertainment Prefect in his final year at Ghanata.
We studied together, exercised together, had prep together and ate Gari and Shito too, most of the time. On our last day, 6th June, 1985 when we wrote our last paper, we wept, as we exchanged addresses and parted (as there were no mobile phone in those days)
Ghanata Secondary School had no Sixth Form, so some of us continued our Sixth Form in other schools. Those who will travel outside, travelled and those who will go into business, entered. Scroogies, went on to Abuakwa State College (Abusco) in Kibi for his sixth form education, and later to the University of Ghana Legon to study Economics, Georgraphy and Maths. He was a proud Vandal and cherished that very fact. I am sure that there are a host of vandals here who will most definitely make their presence felt today in honour of a fellow Vandal and fallen comrade.
Scroogies was always a constant figure and supporter of GOSA 85. His presence and support was never failing and he was always available at any time or day to support fellow GOSAN’s. He did not discriminate whether they were juniors below him or seniors above him back in school. He was an active member of the GOSA organizing committee during home coming events and GOSA social activities. He lived the school moto “Carpe Diem” (seize the day) to its full meaning and many people here today will attest to that. It can be said that although he finished and left Ghanata, the ethos of Ghanata never left him. He was at one time the Treasurer of the group, managing our finances and he did so diligently. He was a great support to everyone in the group, during birthdays, funerals and any other social event
The passing on of our colleague and brother came to us on our WhatsApp platform on the 19th of May as a shock and at a time when the 1985 year group of Ghanata is bringing more people on board to think about our welfare and that of the school. It is such a pity that Scroogies had to exit without any farewell or parting words.
He loved to teach and the way he spoke about his work epitomizes the grief and pain shared by all his students past and present, here today. We are comforted by the fact that he passed away doing what he enjoyed most, imparting knowledge and being a mentor to younger minds.
Wisdom was a regular commentator and contributed to all discussions on our WhatsApp platform. But on the 19th of May 2025, at exactly 4PM, when the news of his passing began to circulate on the platform. The news was unbearable. There were many tears shed as none of us expected this at all.
We know that the battle is not ours, but the Lord’s. None of us were aware of any health challenges that he had or suffered from.
Scroogies you came to serve, you have finished your time here on earth and have moved on to everlasting rest with your maker. In our faith, we thank God for the times we shared together.
Ghanata ’85 will not weep for you because you are not dead. You are alive and awake in the Lord. SCROOGIES, May your soul Rest in Perfect Peace.

Tribute from Christian Methodist Senior High School Old Students Association (CHRIMOSA)
In loving memory of Mr. James
Kofi Yeko, a dedicated educator and mentor who left an indelible mark on our school community. As old students at the Christian Methodist Senior High School, one thing we can never forget is his impact on the school's Cadet, the instilling of discipline, and the leadership role he played in most students. He indeed made the school's cadet the talk of town as he wholeheartedly ensured the cadet was equipped with every needed skill. Under his tutelage, the Chrimesco cadet came first in almost all competitions they participated in, from the district level through to the national level.
His selfless service to the Old Students Association (CHRIMOSA) was invaluable, providing unwavering support and all kinds of help at all times, even at odd hours, being it setting up our meeting place getting equipment for us to use for our meeting and a lot more, to the point of presenting the cadet at Chrimosa related event when called upon. Mr. Yeko's commitment to Chrimosa, the growth of the school and its development is a testament to his passion for education and his love for the students and the school at large. Despite he not being an old student of the school, his love for the school and its associates earned him a spot in the Chrimosa fraternity.
We celebrate his legacy, his impact on our lives, and the memories we shared with him.
Rest in peace, Mr. Yeko. Your contributions will never be forgotten.
I hear Thy welcome voice,
That calls me, Lord, to Thee,
For cleansing in Thy precious blood
That flowed on Calvary.
I am coming, Lord,
Coming now to Thee:
Wash me, cleanse me in the blood
That flowed on Calvary.
Though coming weak and vile,
Thou dost my strength assure;
Thou dost my vileness fully cleanse,
Till spotless all, and pure.
’Tis Jesus who confirms
The blessed work within,
By adding grace to welcomed grace,
Where reigned the power of sin.
And He the witness gives
To loyal hearts and free,
That every promise is fulfilled,
If faith but brings the plea.
All hail, redeeming blood!
All hail, life-giving grace!
All hail, the gift of Christ our Lord,
Our strength and righteousness.
Thou hidden love of God, whose height,
Whose depth unfathomed no man knows,
I see from far Thy beauteous light,
Inly I sigh for Thy repose;
My heart is pained, nor can it be
At rest, till it finds rest in Thee.
Thy secret voice invites me still
The sweetness of Thy yoke to prove;
And fain I would: but though my will
Seems fixed, yet wide my passions rove;
Yet hindrances strew all the way;
I aim at Thee, yet from Thee stray.
’Tis mercy all, that Thou hast brought
My mind to seek her peace in Thee;
Yet, while I seek but find Thee not,
No peace my wand’ring soul shall see.
Oh, when shall all my wand’rings end,
And all my steps to Thee-ward tend!
Is there a thing beneath the sun
That strives with Thee my heart to share?
Ah! tear it thence, and reign alone,
The Lord of every motion there.
Then shall my heart from earth be free,
When it has found repose in Thee.
Oh, hide this self from me, that I
No more, but Christ in me may live;
My vile affections mortify,
Nor let one darling sin survive.
In all things nothing may I see,
Nothing desire or seek but Thee.
O Lord, Thy sovereign aid impart,
To save me from low-thoughted care
Chase this self-will through all my heart
Through all its latent mazes there
Make me Thy duteous child, that I
Ceaseless may Abba, Father, cry.
Each moment draw from earth away
My heart which lowly waits Thy call;
Speak to my inmost soul and say
“I am Thy Love, Thy God, Thy All.”
To feel Thy power, to hear Thy voice,
To taste Thy love, be all my choice.
O solemn hour! O hour alone,
In solitary night,
When God the Father’s only Son,
As Man, for sinners lost, undone,
Expires—amazing sight!
The Lord of glory crucified!
The Lord of Life has bled and died!
O mystery of mysteries!
Of life and death the tree!
Center of two eternities,
Which look with rapt, adoring eyes,
Onward, and back to Thee’
O cross of Christ, where all His pain
And death is our eternal gain.
O how our inmost hearts do move,
While gazing on that cross!
The death of the incarnate Love!
What shame, what grief, what joy we prove,
That He should die for us!
Our hearts were broken by that cry,
“Eli, lama sabachthani!”
Worthy of death, O Lord, we were;
That vengeance was our due;
In grace Thou, spotless Lamb, didst bear
Thyself our sins, and guilt, and fear;
Justice our Surety slew.
With Thee, our Surety, we have died;
With Thee, we there were crucified.
Quickened with Thee with life divine,
Raised with Thee from the dead;
Thine Own, now human and divine,
Shall with Thee in Thy glories shine,
The Church’s living Head!
We, who were worthy but to die,
Now with Thee, “Abba Father,” cry.
I want that adorning divine,
Thou only, my Lord, canst bestow;
I want in those beautiful garments to shine,
Which mark out Thy beauty below.
I want every moment to feel
Thy Spirit indwelling my heart,
His pow’r ever present to cleanse and to heal,
And newness of life to impart.
I want, oh, I want to attain
Some likeness, my Savior, to Thee;
That longed-for resemblance once more to regain;
Thy comeliness put upon me.
I want to be marked for Thine own,
Thy seal on my forehead to wear;
And have that new name on the mystic white stone,
Which none but Thyself can declare.
I want, and this sums up my prayer,
To glorify Thee till I die;
Then calmly to yield up my soul to Thy care,
And breathe out in faith my last sigh!
Cross of Christ! lead onward,
Through the holy war;
In this sign we conquer
Now and evermore.
Not of man the power,
Not to man the fame;
We are victors only
In our Leader’s name.
Cross of Christ! lead onward,
Through the holy war;
In this sign we conquer
Now and evermore.
Not with pomp and pageant,
Not in earthly pride;
We must fight our battles
Like the Crucified.
Overcome by suff’ring,
Conquer through defeat;
Tried and tested daily
In the furnace heat.
Kind, yet we are fighting,
Bold, yet humbly meek;
Resting while we’re working,
Strong, but ever weak.
Timid, though courageous,
Gaining as we give;
Crucified with Jesus,
Yet, in Him, we live.
By a cloud encompassed,
Witnesses to prove,
Saints, apostles, prophets,
Precious ones we love;
While “advance!” is sounding,
Mounts the battle thrill.
Cross of Christ! lead onward
Where the Captain will.
Marching in the pathway
That the Master trod,
Walks One daily with us
Like the Son of God.
To the end enduring,
Armor ne’er laid down,
Till the Cross leads upward
To the blood-bought crown.
Sov’reign grace o’er sin abounding,
Ransomed souls, the tidings swell;
’Tis a deep that knows no sounding,
Who its breadth or length can tell?
On its glories, on its glories,
Let my soul forever dwell!
On its glories, on its glories,
Let my soul forever dwell!
What from Christ the soul can sever,
Bound by everlasting bands?
Once in Him, in Him forever,
Thus th’ eternal cov’nant stands.
None shall pluck thee, none shall pluck thee
From the Savior’s mighty hands!
None shall pluck thee, none shall pluck thee
From the Savior’s mighty hands!
Heirs of God, joint-heirs with Jesus,
Long ere time its race begun;
To His name eternal praises,
O what wonders love has done!
One with Jesus, one with Jesus,
By eternal union one.
One with Jesus, one with Jesus,
By eternal union one.
On such love, my soul, still ponder,
Love, so great, so rich, so free;
Say, while lost in holy wonder,
Why, O Lord, such love to me?
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Grace shall reign eternally!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Grace shall reign eternally!
1 For all the saints who from their labors rest,
who Thee by faith before the world confessed;
Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blest.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
2 Thou wast their Rock, their Fortress and their Might;
Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight;
Thou, in the darkness drear, their one true Light.
Alleluia, Alleluia!3 O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
yet all are one in Thee, for all are Thine.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
4 And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long,
steals on the ear the distant triumph song,
and hearts are brave again, and arms are strong.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
5 But then there breaks a still more glorious day:
the saints triumphant rise in bright array;
the King of glory passes on His way.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
6 From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast,
through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
in praise of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
1. Praise to the Holiest in the height,
and in the depth be praise;
in all His words most wonderful,
most sure in all His ways!
2. O loving wisdom of our God!
When all was sin and shame,
a second Adam to the fight,
and to the rescue came.
3. O wisest love! That flesh and blood,
which did in Adam fail,
Should strive afresh against the foe,
should strive and should prevail.
4. And that the highest gift of grace
should flesh and blood refine;
God’s presence and His very self,
and essence all-divine.
5. Praise to the Holiest in the height,
and in the depth be praise;
in all His works most wonderful,
most sure in all His ways!
Author: Newman, John Henry
1. Give me the wings of faith to rise
Within the veil, and see
The saints above, how great their joys,
How bright their glories be.
2. Once they were mourning here below
And wet their cheeks with tears;
They wrestled hard, as we do now,
With sins, and doubts and fears.
3. I ask them whence their vic'try came;
They, with united breath,
Ascribe their conquest to the Lamb,
Their triumph to his death.
4. Our glorious Leader claims our praise
For his own pattern giv'n,
While the long cloud of witnesses
Show the same path to Heav'n.
